About Marion

I’m a mother of two young girls. I’m constantly searching for new ways to balance the chaos with joy.

I struggle with the perfection gene, so this is my journey to reclaim my bliss and be more in the moment with my loved ones.

My story

I live in New Zealand, with my husband and two girls.

We are lucky to have close connections with grandparents from both sides of the family.

I’ve lived in NZ most of my life, but I’ve been fortunate to live in a bunch of other exotic places, like Nigeria to Edinburgh, too. Both in childhood and as an adult.

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Performing Arts – that means I sometimes get to work as a paid actor. I’ve written, produced and performed in theatre and film. Jumping into the imaginary realm is my happy place. And as a mum, I get to do that OFTEN.

I also love practical solutions. Who doesn’t? But I also enjoy having a philosophical rant about what it all means. It makes me feel full.

My version of a Super-Mum

I’m not an expert of any kind. In fact I would say that’s my specialty – knowing that I don’t know everything. I’m a hands-on-experience parent with an open mind, knowing there’s always more out there to learn.

So you’ll find both practical and philosophical playing on a seesaw here. With a good helping of self deprecating humour to keep it fun. Hopefully.

We all know parenting is tough and complex. Creating this online space helps me focus on being a better parent, and keep learning.

My hope is that it also helps other parents see what a great job they’re doing, or how they can do better.

Contact

I am based in Auckland, New Zealand. If you want to get in touch you can email me on hello@notsoperfectparenting.com

This means I may be asleep while you’re awake, depending on where in this wide world you are. So my reply might be Not So instant.

And, coming from New Zealand means we spell a few things differently. Most obvious being “Mum”, instead of “Mom”.

Thanks for understanding and I look forward to hearing from you.
